A Color Run needs surprisingly little gear — but the few items you need, you really need. Here's the full list, grouped by where it's used.
Color powder
The star of the show. Use food-grade, cornstarch-based, washable color powder — never industrial pigments. Plan roughly enough for several throws per student across your stations. Read the Color Run safety guide before you buy so you know exactly what to look for.
Apparel
- White event t-shirts (the canvas for the color)
- Optional sunglasses or eye protection
- Bandanas or dust masks for sensitive runners
Color stations
- Tables, bins, or squeeze bottles for powder
- Station signage and a captain checklist
- Gloves for volunteers
- Tarps or ground cover where needed
Course & finish line
- Cones, tape, or chalk to mark the route
- Water station and trash bags
- Music and a PA or speaker
- Banner, photo backdrop, and prizes for the celebration
