Get Movin' schools raise an average of $23,765 online per school, and each student fundraising page averages $140. Your own total depends on three things: how many students you have, how many of them set up a page and share it, and how hard you promote during the two-week window. Cash, checks and sponsors add to the online figure.
This page explains how much a Fun Run raises, what the two Get Movin' averages actually count, and how to turn them into a realistic goal. For planning the whole event, start with our Fun Run fundraising guide.
The two benchmarks, and exactly what each measures
| Benchmark | What it counts | What it leaves out |
|---|---|---|
| $140 average raised per student fundraising page | The average raised per student fundraising page on FundHub. It is per student with a page, not per enrolled student. | Students who never set up a page. |
| $23,765 average raised online per school | All online donations for one school's event on FundHub. | In-school cash and checks, and sponsor money collected outside FundHub. Those come on top. |
Both are Get Movin' company averages across its schools. An average includes small and large schools, so treat it as a starting point, not a promise.

Scenarios by school size
These are calculations using the $140 average, not historical results for schools of that size. Each row multiplies students × participation × $140.
| Enrollment | Participation | Students with a page | Estimated raised online | You keep (95–97%) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 200 | 40% | 80 | $11,200 | $10,640–$10,864 |
| 200 | 60% | 120 | $16,800 | $15,960–$16,296 |
| 200 | 80% | 160 | $22,400 | $21,280–$21,728 |
| 400 | 40% | 160 | $22,400 | $21,280–$21,728 |
| 400 | 60% | 240 | $33,600 | $31,920–$32,592 |
| 400 | 80% | 320 | $44,800 | $42,560–$43,456 |
| 600 | 40% | 240 | $33,600 | $31,920–$32,592 |
| 600 | 60% | 360 | $50,400 | $47,880–$48,888 |
| 600 | 80% | 480 | $67,200 | $63,840–$65,184 |
| 800 | 40% | 320 | $44,800 | $42,560–$43,456 |
| 800 | 60% | 480 | $67,200 | $63,840–$65,184 |
| 800 | 80% | 640 | $89,600 | $85,120–$86,912 |
Notice that a 400-student school at 80% participation out-raises an 800-student school at 40%. Participation is the lever you control.

What moves the number
Participation
Every student without a page is $0 online. Class participation goals and a kickoff assembly get more pages set up.
Sharing
A page only raises money once it reaches relatives. Direct texts and emails from parents, with the page link and a deadline, drive the most online giving. The Fun Run letter and message templates give parents the words.
Sponsors
Local businesses can cover shirts and prizes or give outright, and that money sits on top of the online average. See how to find and ask sponsors.
Matching gifts
Many employers match employee donations. FundHub's Employer Match identified over $1.4 million in matching donations in its first year. Remind families to check theirs on the Employer Match page.
Cash and checks
Some families will always send an envelope. Schools keep 100% of in-school cash and checks, so count them in your total.
What you keep
Schools keep 95–97% of funds raised, on average. A usage fee applies only to online donations. Optional donor credits collected at checkout are applied to that fee, so the average group's cost ends up around 4% of online donations, and with enough donor credits a group can pay nothing.
Funds are disbursed by automatic ACH transfer after the event, once approved. Full details are on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a Fun Run raise per student?
On Get Movin', each student fundraising page raises an average of $140 online. That is per participating student, meaning a student who set up a page, not per enrolled student. To estimate your school, multiply the number of students you expect to set up a page by $140, then add cash, checks and sponsors.
Does the $23,765 average include cash and sponsors?
No. $23,765 is the average raised online per school on Get Movin'. In-school cash and checks, and sponsor money collected outside FundHub, come on top of it. Schools keep 100% of in-school cash and checks, so a school with strong envelope giving or local sponsors will finish above its online total.
Is a Fun Run more profitable than a product sale?
A Fun Run has no product to buy, store or deliver, so almost everything donated goes to the school. On Get Movin', schools keep 95–97% of funds raised on average, and the fee applies only to online donations. A product sale has to cover the cost of goods and delivery before the school sees any money.
What is a realistic Fun Run goal for our school?
Start with enrollment, estimate the share of students who will set up a page, and multiply by $140. A 400-student school at 60% participation works out to $33,600 online using that average. Adjust for your school's past results, then add a stretch milestone tied to a whole-school reward.
